Aerial photography, 1939–1945

German reconnaissance coverage of Belarus and western Russia, digitised by the US National Archives. We parsed out the coordinates, scale and place names, so you can search by location instead of by film roll number.

The scans are US public domain and free from the NARA catalogue. You are not paying for them — you are paying for what is not there: search by place name, ready coordinates and scale, alignment to the ground, and a format the app opens directly.

How to get Discovera Maps

Discovera Maps is a Windows application. It searches this same archive, downloads a photograph at full resolution, georeferences it against the modern map and builds a map file for the Discovera app on your phone.

We do not sell individual photographs. A key covers the application and works on one computer; you can move it to another yourself — the first time immediately, after that no more often than once every 30 days.

Install for Windows One file, installs without administrator rights.
Get a key We will reply and issue a key covering the whole application. [email protected]

Discovera Maps for Windows

The application works only with an official key. Without one it will show the catalogue and find the frame you want, but will not download it at full resolution or build a map for your phone.

A key covers the whole application — we do not sell photographs one at a time. It works on one computer; you can move it to another yourself, the first time immediately and after that no more often than once every 30 days.
